Law firm hires global CIO

Fresh fields for former financial services CTO

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed Paul Domnick as its global CIO.

In his new role, Domnick is responsible for areas such as infrastructure operations and helpdesk support, technical architecture, vendor management, project delivery and support functions including business continuity and information assurance.

He now leads a team of 200 and reports to CEO Ted Burke.

"Paul's appointment is another step in ensuring that we continue our proactive approach to new technology and its business application. We are delighted that Paul will be leading our development in this important area," Burke said in a statement.

Domnick was previously group CTO and deputy head of IT for Zurich Financial Services (ZFS) responsible for technology strategy, standards, enterprise architecture and applications architecture across the entire business.

Before taking on the role in early 2007, Paul was head of global IT sourcing for ZFS. Paul joined Zurich in 2004 from Deutsche Bank where he was global head of datacentres.
