One of the tech chiefs of Barclays has resigned, the bank has confirmed.

Bob Rickert, CIO of Barclays' global retail and commercial banking, handed in his notice last week with immediate effect.

A spokesman for the bank said Rickert had gone to "pursue other opportunities".

Barclays is now seeking a replacement for its CIO, with Rickert's responsibilities shared between several members of staff.

Rickert had been with Barclays for three years and had formerly been CIO of US banking group Keycorp.
