Name: Myron Hrycyk.

Employer and official job title: Unipart Logistics - IT Director.

What do most people call you? I won't go down the obvious path. I'm personally referred to as Myron.

Who do you report to? Managing Director.

Nature of organisation and total headcount: Outsourcing of clients' full spectrum logistics/supply chain processes.

IT headcount: 140.

IT budget: £14m.

Biggest career success? I have two. I programme directed the rescue of a £30m SAP/business process transformation project for the Group and I completed my MBA (getting a distinction) in my own time while doing the SAP/Business process transformation project - the best learning experience I've had.

Greatest flop (that you can tell us about)? Always trying to generate IT-led business innovation - some successes but many dead ends and a lot of time expended.

Greatest influence on career: I'm influenced by the best CEOs I've worked for. Current MD is a very positive influence on my career.

Greatest strength: IT leadership and building great teams.

Area where you most want to improve yourself: Personally - improve my golf; professionally - financial analysis.

What single thing would make your job easier? Accurate prediction of things like: what technologies would win out e.g. Microsoft vs Linux, SAP vs Oracle; what new technologies will be available in three years; what companies will have disappeared and what the shape and content of my business will be.

If you could only pass on one piece of advice to your successor, what would it be? It is always the team around you that delivers the results - focus on building and growing your team.

Which business issue/technology excites you the most? How do we grow the business - new market offerings, new business bids; portal technology.

What keeps you awake at night? Nothing - I sleep really well.

Home life: Live on the edge of a market town in Oxfordshire - plenty of good pubs. Married with two young daughters.

Hobbies: Haggling with antique/collectibles dealers, golf.

Last book read: The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

Last CD bought/downloaded: Santana - he's a great guitarist.

Favourite holiday destination: US.

What would your personal motto be? Work hard, play hard - always play to win.

Greatest fear: Losing those nearest to me.

My idea of perfect happiness is... Being totally content with my life - whatever it is.
