Human resources functions in medium-sized and large UK organisations claim IT is letting them down.
Only a quarter of the 100 HR managers quizzed for the research said they are satisfied with IT supporting strategic functions such as workforce planning, leadership development and performance management.
However lower value, administrative processes such as payroll - though this is often outsourced - are generally seen to be successfully catered for by the IT department, according to the survey.
Fifty-five per cent of those surveyed reckon HR needs more sophisticated IT systems and processes.
The research, which forms part of a report called 'The Gap Between IT and Strategic HR in the UK', was by Taleo and drew on interviews with organisations with more than 1,000 staff.
