Shock, horror: business travellers are no strangers to visiting strip clubs while they are 'on the road'.
Top five business travel destinations...
1. New York
2. Chicago
3. London
4. San Francisco
5. Washington
This is just one finding from a piece of business traveller research conducted by travel portal TripAdvisor, which also found in-room high-speed internet access is the most important feature when selecting a hotel for almost a third of respondents.
The research found that 12 per cent of business travellers admitted to visiting strip clubs while on their travels and 32 per cent said having to travel on business is still something they very much enjoy – scotching notions that it's a tiresome chore. A further 48 per cent said they really don't mind travelling on business, suggesting only 20 per cent would rather not.
Missing the family and flight delays and cancellations were cited as the major reasons why business travel can take its toll on the soul, and 55 per cent of travellers said the most annoying fellow passenger on a flight is the child sat behind them kicking their seat.
Most popular business travel hotels...
1. Marriott
2. Hilton
3. Holiday Inn
4. Sheraton
5. Best Western
Another quirk of behaviour that is peculiar to business travel is a generous hike in the amount people tip. If it's going on expenses 46 per cent of respondents said they discover a new found generosity towards bag-boys, bell-hops, taxi drivers and waiters - and possibly exotic dancers.
Nearly 10 per cent of respondents said they will take 10 or more business trips this year.
