A provider of medico-legal reports for personal injury claims, Mobile Doctors Group, has attributed a strong yearly revenue increase to an outsourcing project.

The company moved to an outsourcing platform supplied by Xansa between April and October 2007 and back-office processes were transferred to an offshore team in Delhi. In that time frame, Mobile Doctors Group increased turnover by 22 per cent from £13.7m to £16.7m.

The company also made an acquisition to increase market share, which, according to Mobile Doctors Group chairman Peter Opperman, will be made easier to consolidate because of the outsourcing deal.

The provision of medico-legal reports to insurers was subject of a legal dispute in 2006, which concluded with a ruling that insurers must still pay for reports, but within a set fee structure. Medical Doctors Group said the outsourcing deal helped it make the most of this turn of events.

Mobile Doctors Group CEO Matthew Game said in a statement: "Our outsourcing helped to reduce the cost of handling a case, creating a significant market advantage. The trend has continued through the reduction of costs per case by approximately 40 per cent over the last two years."
