Dundee residents buying their cake contactlessly and eating it

Dundee City Council has more than 50,000 users of its contactless payment scheme since launch in October 2008.
The scheme, under the Scottish National Entitlement Card (NEC) programme aims to distribute pre-loadable wave and pay cards to Scottish citizens for purchases of £10 and under.
In an effort to boost adoption by the public, Dundee City Council is writing to 30,000 NEC card holders to register for the facility, supplied by payments specialist sQuid.
Here, Dundee Lord Provost, John Letford, is publicising his registration to the scheme. The Lord Provost is a largely symbolic role, similar to a mayorship, and the card he is receiving is also symbolic, the real one is small enough to fit into his wallet.
