Don Trotta has left his role as CIO with Barclays and taken a new position with SAP.
Trotta has been appointed the ERP company's SVP and global head of financial services, responsible for product strategy, development and overall market positioning activities in the banking and insurance industries globally, according to SAP.
He will report to Bob Stutz, corporate officer of SAP Group and its executive VP of industry solutions, and will be based in New York and SAP's headquarters in Walldorf, Germany.

Trotta joins SAP after four years with Barclays. Previously, he worked for Citibank, where he was in charge of global technology for its retail businesses. He has also held senior technology positions at Chase Manhattan and American Express.
Trotta is not the only CIO to take leave of Barclays in recent months. The CIO of its global retail and commercial banking, Bob Rickert, left for pastures new back in February.
A Barclays spokesman confirmed the company has not made a direct replacement for Trotta. "The nature of the role has changed," he told silicon.com. "We're not currently considering anyone."
Rickert's position has not been filled either, the spokesman added.
