Hmm, this introduces a whole new area for fraud - why steal something when you only have to stand withing reader distance of someones wallet or purse ?
Just think, there you are, crammed on the tube - how many of your fellow passengers are surruptitiously querying your contactless credit card ?
OK, there should be security measures in place to prevent it, but any security measure can be broken if there's a profit in it. And breaking the encryption of a popular credit card would seem to have a certain potential payback - enough to warrant significant effort I would have thought.
