Oracle Technical Architect Job ID GBS-0122051 Job type Full-time Regular Work country United Kingdom Work city Any city in selected countries Job role Package Solution Consultant Travel Up to 75%; travelling 5 days a week, home on weekends Job role skillset Oracle.Financials Business unit C&SI Job description Oracle Technical Architect The basic requirements include a strong understanding of the Oracle Applications (Ideally Release 12) and its related technologies and in general have been involved for over three years in designing and developing an infrastructure to sustain an Oracle environment. These tasks should include, but not be limited to, requirements analysis, applications architecture impact on the current baseline architecture, impact of interfaces, forms, and reports to the new environment being designed. The Technical Architect's role is to communicate, design, document and gain acceptance with the client on the architecture to be deployed for the project. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying technical specifications throughout the project life cycle. The ability to make functional and technical contributions will make a difference in evaluating candidates. Candidates should have worked in a collaborative environment with an offshore development group and have working knowledge and best practices in this environment. Oracle Applications experience in an ERP or Financials is desirable. The Oracle technical architect is responsible for architecting the physical components of the database, hardware, and network in support of the application architecture. To accomplish this, the technical architect needs to design the database, hardware, and network architecture to support the application architecture and deployment strategy. This includes decisions about; - The physical distribution of processing across all the tiers in the architecture, - Capacity planning of the technical infrastructure, - Design of the layout of applications and database environments - Design of the security architecture - Design of the availability architecture - Identification and advisement of performance risks The technical architect oversees detailed technical work on interface and system design to ensure the detailed work is consistent with the overall technical architecture. The technical architect works closely with the application architect to achieve an integrated overall architecture supporting the business and information systems vision. During the interview candidates should be able to discuss: - How the Oracle Applications interact with the different tiers of the architecture - What are the best practices for securing the Oracle Applications Environment - What are the best practices for designing an availability environment for the Oracle Applications - How to mitigate risks to the architecture - Oracle database concepts - How to work with Oracle Applications Framework - How to work with Oracle Fusion Middleware and its impact on the technical infrastructure - How to perform capacity planning for the client’s environment - What the relevant impacts are to building the infrastructure to support the Oracle Applications Technical Architecture Requirements for the Job: The technical architect oversees detailed technical work on interface and system design to ensure the detailed work is consistent with the overall technical architecture. The technical architect works closely with the application team to achieve an integrated overall architecture supporting the business and information systems vision This includes decisions about; - The physical distribution of processing across all the tiers in the architecture, - Capacity planning of the technical infrastructure, - Design of the layout of applications and database environments - Design of the security architecture - Design of the availability architecture - Identification and advisement of performance risks The candidate should posses: - University degree in the field of computer science or software engineering - Working technical knowledge of programming languages, including Oracle PL/SQL and JAVA - Extensive database and operating systems experience with Oracle, UNIX, Linux and Microsoft NT Required Technical Consulting with a minimum of 5 years extensive experience of database and operating systems with Oracle, UNIX, Linux and Microsoft NT : Mastered Experience in overseeing detailed technical work on interface and system design to ensure the detailed work is consistent with the overall technical architecture : Mastered Strong core consulting skills. Individuals with excellent communication and presentation skills : Mastered English: Fluent Preferred Bachelor's Degree Additional information The candidate should also posses: - Thorough understanding of platforms such as Oracle Applications - Hands-on software troubleshooting experience - Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies - Strong written and oral communication skills - Strong interpersonal skills - Ability to conduct research into technical-related issues and products - Highly logical - Technically proficient - Highly self-motivated and directed - Keen attention to detail - Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities - Ability to effectively prioritize IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
