Network Engineer (Cisco / Linux) – Gain your CCNA - Oxfordshire RM plc requires a Network Engineer with experience of Cisco Routers / Firewalls / PIX / Checkpoint to join a vibrant office based team that implement, manage and support the technical infrastructure (Windows / Linux / Cisco) that is pivotal in providing millions of Education sector users with mission-critical hosted applications. This stimulating and highly challenging technical role involves the support and troubleshooting of 24x7 hosted services to 8000+ customer networks (750+ servers / 18 UK data centres). The dynamic environment is constantly growing and evolving as customers demand more advanced solutions. This therefore represents a fantastic opportunity for a Network Engineer to broaden and build on their technical skills and gain certifications such as the CCNA / CCNP whilst working with a number of the latest technologies in a hugely rewarding environment. The role will involve: - Providing proactive day to day management and support for Internet related telecoms, including servers, routers, firewalls and backup systems within a mission critical environment. - Proactively managing, tracking and resolving issues, change controls, bespoke project roll-outs and live faults escalated into and out of the systems team. - Maintaining a high level of availability of services and minimising the risk of exposure to system downtime through continual monitoring of key systems. - Providing direct support to customers by resolving escalated support issues. - Improving process development, documentation and knowledge dissemination. - Due to the mission critical 24x7 environment, the role will involve working standard RM core office hours plus a minimum of two 'on-call' shifts per month, which carry an additional paid shift allowance and overtime payments for calls taken The individual - Of graduate calibre with experience of developing or supporting network related infrastructure, ideally including experience with a variety of operating systems, such as MS Windows, UNIX / Linux. - Experience with Cisco router and switches, Cisco IOS, Intel-based server hardware, TCP/IP, DNS and other Internet related technologies, such as proxies, web caches and email servers. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Excellent problem solving skills with strong attention to detail. - Passionate about delivering excellence in customer service, technical projects and day-to-day work. - Flexible approach and the ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment Why you should consider this role: - Technically challenging role with an ever expanding broad array of technologies, ensures continual learning and development - RM is a Microsoft Gold Partner and delivers innovative, complex solutions (including the largest Sharepoint implementation in the world) - Supportive team combine an excellent work ethic with a strong sense of teamwork and fun - First class career development and progression opportunities i.e. solution architecture, project management, operations or staff management. - Educational ICT is a dynamic, fast-changing and rewarding market sector, which means that RM combines a dynamic work environment with the core values of improving life chances and making a difference.
