Senior Infrastructure Architect Job ID GBS-0147375 Job type Full-time Regular Work country United Kingdom Work city Any Job role Infrastructure Architect Travel Up to 75%; travelling 5 days a week, home on weekends Job role skillset Infrastructure Architecture & Design Business unit C&SI Job description This role concentrates on the design of infrastructures including servers, storage, workstations, middleware, non-application software, networks, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by the client. Included in the focus areas is the critical evaluation and selection of the software and hardware components of the infrastructure. Best practices in this role use various techniques including modeling, simulation, and testing to validate the designs and selected products. Infrastructure Architects are responsible for performance, availability and scalability of the infrastructure. You will be responsible for the planning, architecture, high level design and implementation of the technical infrastructure supporting large scale client projects. For your area of responsibility, your role will include: - Defining the Operational Model - Defining the overall system shape - What the building blocks are from which the solution will be made - How the data and functionality will be deployed across the infrastructure nodes Key responsibilities: - Establishes non-functional and technical infrastructure requirements - Define the infrastructure solution - Networking, hardware configurations, system software, middleware - Performance, Capacity, Scalability - Availability, Recoverability - Systems Management, Service Levels - Define the technical vitality programme Mandatory Skills:- Technical: - Knowledge of enterprise class infrastructure components and architectures - Experience of producing bid-time proposal chapters relating to infrastructure - Experience of developing and maintaining project-level architectures for the technical infrastructure within contract scope; these architectures include the technical platform, common services (including data management), 'middleware' and application 'technical' architecture (including the dynamic model) and the interfaces between them, and between them and external systems - Experience of developing and maintaining the project-level capacity, performance and availability models and standards plans - Experience of ensuring that the technical requirements are clearly allocated to the technical infrastructure and provide clear definitions of the scope and boundaries of the infrastructure elements - Experience of ensuring that the architectures and plans are coherent and consistent with other project strategies and architectures - Experience of responding to customer/prospect requests for extensions to the scope of the solution through the creation or enhancement of the technical infrastructure - Experience of providing advice and consultancy across the project team on the above strategies and architectures - Experience of participating in reviews and provision of guidance to teams to ensure that the architectures are followed - Experience of reviewing agreed design products, to ensure correct interpretation of the requirements and architectures and strategies - Experience of establishing and participating in design reviews, regular architectural reviews and technical issue management meetings - Experience of providing support to other members of the Design Authority and members of the Project Management team as required Personal: - Proven background in delivering for clients providing consistent, high quality solutions that meet or exceed expectations - Strong team working skills - Excellent spoken and written English.
