Our Mobile Applications Software team includes talented engineers who work on problems unique to mobile computing, from inception through the end of the product development lifecycle. We strive to create innovative products and services that work on mobile devices for those who need access wherever they go. The role: Mobile Wireless Server Developer - London, South East The Mobile Wireless Server Developer is dedicated to bringing Google's rich Web applications and services to the mobile space. This means you'll design and develop advanced, mobile-specific server software that is delivered to a broad range of devices over a number of different airlink protocols. You'll work closely with Product Managers to understand architecture requirements as well as with client-side colleagues to develop optimal client-server frameworks. Strong coding abilities (C++ and/or Java), solid analytical capabilities and clear communication skills are helpful attributes for this job. Responsibilities: - Identify, design and implement new server features and protocols. - Push new software releases into production. - Identify mission-critical bugs and implement solutions in a timely manner. - Arrange technical requirements with new or existing external partners (such as aggregators and carriers) in order to establish and/or change connections. - Monitor and maintain the server operation. Requirements: - BS degree (MS or PhD in computer science or equivalent preferred). - Several years of Web development experience. - Extensive experience programming in Java and C++. - Familiarity with mobile technologies such as CHTML, XHTML and WAP is preferred. - Previous experience with handset developers or carriers is preferred. - Demonstrated experience delivering telecom products that achieve five 9s tolerance. - Solid track record of producing high-quality client-server applications through the full product lifecycle Mobile Wireless Server Developer - Java and C++ - London, South East
