INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER £32,436 - £39,258 PER ANNUM NEWBURY Information is one of the most important assets West Berkshire Council (WBC) possesses. The sharing of this information with customers and partners to enable fast automated processes is increasingly important to the efficiency of the organisation. Ensuring the security, integrity, and confidentiality of this information is paramount. We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and technically competent individual to develop and run a project to help WBC achieve compliance with the BS7799/ISO27001 Information Security standards and also to coordinate the Council’s Business ContinuityManagement Systems. Duties will include: - Developing a project plan for WBC’s BS7799/ISO27001 compliance project. - Introducing monitoring, auditing and assessment tools and methodologies to aid the project. - Developing and documenting BS7799 compliant Information Security policies and procedures. - Raising BS7799 awareness within WBC and obtaining the organisation’s buy-in to the project. - Monitoring and auditing the effectiveness of control systems relating to information security. - Performing regular Information Security risk assessment and developing mitigation strategies for identified risk. - Coordinating, developing and testing WBC’s Business Continuity plans. Educated to degree level, you should have relevant experience within an IT Security or Information Security related role. You will have a proven track record of achieving BS7799 (or similar) compliance within a large, diverse organisation.
