Oracle Support/Developer Information Analyst (Image Equivalent EO/HEO) DESCRIPTION: JPA is a programme to modernise the way the Services carry out personnel and pay administration and is based on the introduction of harmonised policy and regulations supported by new administration processes and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software. The JPA Technical & Applications Support (TAS) Organisation has responsibility for JPA Complementary Applications & Stand Alone Systems (CASS). The team is responsible for the maintenance and development of CASS systems using a variety of platforms. These positions are responsible for the maintenance and amendment of CASS systems based on an Oracle platform. Though based at Centurion there will be a requirement initially to travel to Innsworth to undertake some training and knowledge transfer. CORE COMPETENCE/EXPERIENCE: The post-holders will be team players who demonstrate the following skills/experience: - Experience of development and/or maintenance of Oracle Applications - Detailed knowledge of one or more of PL SQL, SQL Plus on Oracle 9i, Oracle Forms, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle 6i Reports, Oracle Application Developer or Oracle Workflow - Knowledge of GUI programming and interface development (preferably with XML) - Programming experience using ' VISMA Unique' and FrontPage or raw HTML is desirable - Proven track record of successful software development - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - The ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales - Open minded, determined and a self-starter with the ability to work alongside all levels of management, both EDS and Authority - Commitment to Customer Focus - Working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook - Experience of industry standard Quality Management System (QMS) - Ability to manage ambiguity in a changing environment - Understanding and acceptance of the SPVA 'Our Culture' Principles Responsibilities are as follows: - Assist with the production of Customer Requirement specifications. - Produce detailed technical design specifications to identify how the CASS application should be developed to satisfy functional specifications. - Construct/modify software in accordance with detailed technical design specifications and GAD QMS procedures - Produce unit test specifications to demonstrate that modified elements meets requirement - Execute unit tests and document outcomes in accordance with GAD QMS procedures - Investigate reported errors, identify cause and resolve problems (Vantive) - Liaise with customers as required to resolve technical issues - Provide regular progress reports to line management in accordance with agreed procedures. - Support Business Development activities as required About Eds EDS provides a broad portfolio of business and technology solutions to help its clients worldwide improve their business performance.
