IS Support/ Testing Analyst

IS Support/ Testing Analyst £28,712 - £36,219 (including inner London Weighting) Central London It’s all about finding out the problem, considering the options and doing everything possible to find the best solution. Sound familiar? At The Children’s Society, our Information Systems(IS) department doesn’t just address technical problems. In developing information technology that enables our projects to share knowledge and experience, everyone here helps improve the lives of children and young people who haven’t had a fair start in life. Thanks to our existing team we’re fully aware of IS’s vital contribution to our projects. And now with expansions in information systems and use of web technologies, together with plans to introduce corporate management information systems, we’re keen to increase that contribution. So you’ll find the work will stimulate your potential too. Our IS Department takes care of the Society’s main applications including finance and social work databases as well as providing user advice. Looking ahead, this team will take ownership and contribute to the future development of the intranet and other knowledge management systems. As a Support/ Testing Analyst you’ll concentrate on enhancing the support and customer service side of the team - ensuring the systems are being used efficiently and finding solutions when they are not, as well as developing reporting facilities for those systems. As the first point of call for 2nd and 3rd line interruptions, you’ll be more heavily involved in making recommendations to reduce down time. You will also test applications before they are released to users For this role, you’ll need good levels of numeracy and literacy and proven support or development experience in SQL Server and MS Access in a networking environment. You will be familiar with web based technologies including HTML, ASP, Javascript, XML and XLST. Ideally you will have experience in formal testing methods, an ISEB qualification in this area would be desirable. We will offer training to exceptional candidates although existing knowledge of MS Office Suite is essential. What we can’t teach you is common sense, diplomacy and patience - so please bring those qualities with you. It all comes down to great prospects. We have to be realistic in our work, and we don’t expect miracles overnight, but if you’re sensitive to our cause and inspired by our achievements, you’re sure to become an invaluable member of the team – and thrive in this encouraging environment. The hours of work for this role are 35 per week. As well as a strong commitment to your development, we offer generous holidays, contributory stakeholder pension, childcare vouchers and flexible working.
