Internet Operations Analysts

Internet Operations Analysts Cheltenham What makes this work so interesting? Working for Britain’s intelligence services. Contributing to the well-being and security of Britain. Cutting-edge technology at the very pioneering limits of IT security. Using technology creatively. Working alongside and sharing ideas with similar experts. Career paths on technical or management routes. Coaching and mentoring others. Getting a buzz from trying to defeat 'allegedly' impenetrable IT security systems. Working in a growing team, in a totally unique working culture. Training and development opportunities. A friendly, helpful work environment. Continuous Personal Development plan with an established 'Investor in People'. Support to study for professional qualifications, where applicable. Excellent conditions and benefits, including attractive pension options and competitive, annually reviewed salaries, plus flexible working policies. GCHQ is a critical part of the UK’s intelligence and security service, working with MI5 and MI6 to counter threats to Britain. Home to one of Europe’s most powerful IT estates, we are a technologically driven organisation with some 1500 people working in a variety of teams within a major IT function. The web is increasingly a focus of our work. By 2012, we predict the main medium carrying intelligence on our targets will be via the internet. Our targets’ use of computers has become smarter, more varied and agile. We recognise this fact and are investing heavily in our response. The Internet and surrounding issues have become a key focus that we need to keep abreast of. We aim to be THE expert across government, advising on how to harness the technology, and using it in turn to produce intelligence on high value targets. In this growing area, you’ll have every opportunity to use your technical skills at the sharp end of our operations – supporting intelligence and liaising with other agencies in the areas of serious crime, military operations and counter terrorism. And that’s all in addition to good training and ongoing career development in either a specialist or management role. The type of roles we have include: - Computer Network Operations/Analyst - IT Forensics - Software Design - Tool Developer - Penetration testing (e.g. preventing ‘hackers’ accessing critical systems and information) An interest in internet technology is of course essential. Ideally, you will be skilled in network management or support, computer processing, software development, research or signals protocols, together with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable relevant e*perience in IT or telecoms. Alongside this, you’ll be a creative thinker with strong people skills and the ability to work effectively within a 'virtual' team. REF Graduate
