iSeries / AS400 Operator (C37K)

Our client has an excellent opportunity for an iSeries Operator to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the iSeries environment. Activities include tape management and backup error determination and resolution to ensure that IT services are delivered to the agreed Service Level Agreement.

Principal Accountabilities
?Ensure that the IBM iSeries environment is operated effectively.
?Ensure a high-availability service to our international customers.
?Ensure all on-line systems are available.
?Monitoring and executing of Batch work.
?Monitor and executing of Batch and System back-ups.
?Perform and carry out daily tape management duties.
?Carry out and complete all the relevant daily check lists.
?Carry out all tasks/process in accordance with the relevant Work Instruction.
?Identify and rectify operational exceptions and error conditions escalating problems to the ITT Shift Leader.
?Identify tasks and system processes that don?t conform to LPIS standards.
?Any other reasonable task as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge
?Basic Knowledge of iSeries Systems.
?Basic Knowledge of iSeries operational software.
?Some exposure to Macro4 and BRMS is an advantage.
?LPAR operating experience desirable but not essential.

Skills
?Has good planning skills, ability to manage own time and work within agreed timescales.
?Able to work to strict deadlines.
?Build relationships, creates strong relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
?Good working knowledge of the English language. Additional language skills highly desirable.

Education and Experience
?Experienced in dealing with professionals in other disciplines.
?Flexible for shift work on a 24*5 basis. The shift patterns are:

Early 06.00-14.30
Day 09.00 ? 17.30
Late 17.30-02.00
Night 22.00-06.30

?Shifts are rostered on a rotational basis and there is also a regular on-call and weekend shift roster in place
