Bioinformatics Senior Software Engineer Cambridgeshire C++

Cambridgeshire based bioinformatics research centre is looking for senior software engineer to join their computational biology department. Working alongside some of the industries best, your key focus will be on sustaining and improving existing software applications in C++, Perl and Python. The successful candidate will be involved in high level design decisions whilst promoting the best practices in accordance to my client's software development lifecycle.
To succeed in this role you will be confident in pushing forward the development of new applications to help analyse large volumes of genomic data. In addition, you will also be expected to lead teams of software engineers in the development of core algorithm libraries for Windows and Unix as well as Unix applications for grid systems.

The candidate will be educated to Bsc level in a Science related discipline with a strong in C / C++ programming. It is essential you have solid experience in Perl or Python, XML, CVS or TFS and Linux / Windows. To succeed in this role, you must have substantial experience of Unix software development alongside multi-threaded or parallel design and implementation. Exposure to SQL databases, design methodologies, graphics and image processing is highly desirable.
