SENIOR TEST ANALYST (IT/09/32)

Scottish and Southern Energy is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK, with over 9 million customers across our various brands.

The IT Test Group consists of two functions: System Test, whose objective is to exercise and prove the functionality of all code delivered for testing against detailed design specifications and business requirements and secondly, User Acceptance Test, whose objective is to involve the end users in the testing of the system, once proven, to ensure it is fit for purpose and performs the functions originally asked for, to allow sign off of the work. The team also offers a Best Practice QA and Guidance service where possible and is involved in ad hoc testing, where required.

Key duties and responsibilities of the role include:

·         Taking ownership of test projects and leading them to successful completion

·         Leading a small team of testers, acting as a test expert and mentoring junior members of the team

·         Executing tests

·         Ensuring targets are met and quality standards adhered to

·         Controlling and running, in parallel, multiple smaller pieces of work to completion

·         Reviewing and critiquing processes and standards to improve testing

The successful candidate will:

·         Have an understanding of testing best practice, the development life cycle and significant experience of mainframe testing

·         Be able to actively manage a testpack to successful completion in aggressive timescales

·         Possess good organisational and planning skills

·         Have good interpersonal skills at all levels

·         Be able and willing to mentor junior grades in test methods

·         Demonstrate the ability to motivate and lead a small team of testers and report accurately to management

·         Be able to review and critique current processes and keen to generate innovative solutions
