Southern Electric Contracting, part of the Scottish and Southern Energy group, is a leading mechanical and electrical contractor in the UK. SEC has a long standing association working with the MOD and maintaining MOD sites and assets across the country. 

The purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, reliable and cost effective delivery of all asset operations and maintenance works within the cluster.

Reporting to the Site Estate Delivery Manager your key duties and responsibilities include:

• Managing maintenance, reactive and lifecycle works, ensuring legal and contractual compliance
• Promoting safety and ensuring staff are trained to appropriate standards
• Undertaking quality audits
• Reviewing and suggesting improvements to operational and maintenance practices
• Managing compliance with DE (Defence Estates) and PriDE policies on Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environment
• Ensuring works are completed to specification, time and cost
• Managing and reviewing supply chain to ensure materials are available to meet service needs 

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience of running direct employed and supply chain teams within an engineering activity (building services related)
• Have the ability to control costs and to monitor performance, quality and best value
• Demonstrate a flexible approach and a constructive and conscientious attitude
• Have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Have an awareness and understanding of systems for recording of works
• Hold a relevant trade qualification (City and Guilds or equivalent) in either electrical or mechanical disciplines and recent experience in an engineering environment
• Ideally have the ability to act as an Authorised Person for one or more engineering disciplines
