We are currently looking for a Works Manager to work on our exciting new A46 contract. The successful candidate will ensure consistently high standards of safety and quality from the workforce and supply chain. They will mentor, advise and train over 20 foremen who report to the project's Team Leaders and Agents .


Requirements

Quality
* Understands the relevant Business Management System and implements systems and processes (e.g. ordering plant, recruiting labour, disciplinary procedures)
* Understanding of construction tolerances
* Understands ACP
* Experience of managing a subordinates programme
Health Safety & Environmental
* Understands Protocol with regard to Accident and Incident investigation
* Experience in leading Safety & Environment Tours
* Experience in planning shifts in line with EU regs. and section 61
Productivity
* Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately
* Experience of planning and managing project creep
Commercial
* Understands the specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers
* Understands material wastage allowances
* Working knowledge of the NEC and other relevant forms of contract and able to develop professional relationship with Client representatives.

Responsibilities

Engineering Control
* Ensures that the subordinates programme is completed in sufficient time for setting out into the Works
* Understands customer and third party needs and briefs the workforce on them
Quality
* Inputs into the setting of targets and KPI's in line with Project objectives and monitors performance
* Works with the Team Lead to ensure appropriate action is taken on findings from site audits / checks
* Implements relevant Business Management systems and processes
* Involved in working groups focused on Improvement Areas
* Monitors the competency of his/her supervisory staff and administers training / coaching as appropriate
Health Safety & Environmental
* Inputs into the setting of targets and KPI's in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance
* Carries out regular Safety & Environment Tours in line with the Project H & S Plan
* Assist site manager in planning working shifts in line with rest periods, working hours and section 61
* Reviews Accident / Incident Investigations. Reviews and appraises findings and recommends the appropriate action arising. (TCA)
* Plays an active role in project risk reviews
* Monitors effectiveness of the H & S management system
* Implements first stage of company disciplinary procedures in relation to workforce
* Seeks to improve levels of safety at every opportunity
Productivity
* Able to carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme
* Understands the Project KPI's and is able to make constructive suggestions to improve performance
* Apply skills and knowledge to assist engineering teams in planning stage programmes
Commercial
* Involved in the procurement of subcontractors and advises on commercial aspects / preferred attendances
