Location- South West
The role sits within the corporate risk control function of our client, one of the 'Big 6' energy providers in the UK.
Main Purpose of Job:
Key purpose of this role is to ensure that the credit risks to achieving stated and implied objectives of the company are and appropriately managed.
Scope:includes Corporate, Generation (Power Station Assets, Cogeneration, and Renewable business) and Retail (large / small business customers, market sectors and interaction with wholesale energy trading business).
The role will involve:
*Managing a portfolio of our client's counterparties covering all areas of the business.
*Performing company analysis on existing and new customers to assess creditworthiness. Based on company analysis, the Credit Analyst will determine appropriate credit limits within the Company's risk tolerance.
*Performing full company financial and credit analysis on large public companies and completing informative analysis on smaller customers based on limited information. Preparing summaries of reviews for subsequent Credit and Risk Committee approval.
*Update of credit databases and delivery of management reporting requirements.
*Developing strong relationships with Group Risk Management and the businesses (especially Account Managers, Administration teams, Legal, and Risk Management) as part of the day-to-day role.
*Actively manage counterparty credit exposures, including initiating credit discussions with counterparties when required.
*Co-ordinate Group credit line usage across international offices and affiliated companies.
*Raising the level of credit awareness and credit education through the business.
*Support Retail account managers with credit advice during contract negotiations.
*Support the business with technical credit advice regarding the application of credit policies, standard contract terms, and other ad-hoc credit requirements.
*Mitigation of credit risk through the structuring and negotiation of suitable credit terms for inclusion in standard trading contracts.
Skills and experience
*1-3 years credit control analytical experience.
*Understanding of P&L and balance sheets
*Ability to read financial statements and balance sheets and report on them
*Experience within the energy sector would be very attractive but not essential
