Senior Microsoft Windows Server Engineer

Pocket Kings is seeking a Senior Microsoft Windows Server Engineer to work with our existing Windows Server team. Our company is the exclusive development, operations and marketing services supplier to one of the world?s largest online poker sites.

The successful candidate will join the team which has responsibility for dealing with both our internal corporate environment as well as supporting our customer?s production and development environment. The standard server platform is Windows Server 2003, with some Windows 2008 servers. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with the windows platform and will have successfully deployed and supported it on a number of enterprise grade hardware systems.

There are a variety of systems in use, for which the successful candidate will have responsibility, including Active Directory, Exchange 2007 Server and IIS as well as associated subsystems like DNS.. Additional expert knowledge of other products such as VMWare and Storage systems would be a benefit.

The production environment we support uses proprietary software developed in house, and operates in a 24x7x365 market. Successful candidates will also have skills in clustering, load balancing, and monitoring technologies. Networking experience with Cisco or Juniper systems, whilst not an absolute requirement, is a distinct advantage.

Successful candidates will be working with a highly talented team of technical engineers in a challenging and rapidly evolving environment. Adaptability and the ability to think on one?s feet are absolute requirements along with an ability to evaluate and respond to technical and complex problems.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
? Design, deployment and support of highly available and secure windows server farms and associated applications
? Monitoring and performance tuning of above servers and applications
? Manages and maintains corporate and back office systems including Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2007
? Provides expert assistance and knowledge to the management and diagnostics of proprietary software systems
? Operates as a member of the windows server team, with both an operational and project focus ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Windows platforms to all environments
? Develop technical documentation, internal standards and reports as requested by management
? Research, evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to address emerging business and technical needs

Skills / Experience Required:
? 7 years of experience and in-dept knowledge of Microsoft Windows Architecture in high availability environments
? Expert knowledge in a minimum of 5 of the following areas:
o Windows Server 2003
o Windows 2008
o Windows Clustering
o Active Directory
o Microsoft Exchange 2007
o IIS6 and multi tier web applications
o Windows Scripting (Batch, VBScript, Powershell)
o DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP
o HP Hardware and monitoring tools
o Group Policies and their application
o Data Centre Design and best practice
o Windows debugging tools (WinDBG, Sysinternals tools)
? A broad range of technical skills with a desire to develop and expand those skills
? Self motivated to better the environment
? Leadership skills
? Able to design, implement, document solutions
? Able to work with little direction
? Broad experience with many IT services
? Open to new technologies and be eager to learn them
? Customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels
