Central Government & Agencies Business Developer

Entec is a successful business growing ahead of market trends. Its business growth is directed by a team of Sector Developers working closely with Consultancy Managers. The Central Government & Agencies Sector Developer position has recently become vacant.

Within this sector Entec is active at European Commission level, UK Central Government, Agencies of Government and Regulators. The service range covers policy development through to regulatory implementation for some customers, major project delivery, Frameworks and long term contracts are a key feature of the Sector and Entec is well positioned on many major frameworks with customers including EC, DEFRA, DECC, HCA, EA, OGC (BS), Carbon Trust, ODA and WRAP. Public sector customers represent around 38% of Entec?s fee income and CG&A customers, at £10m represents just under one half of this. Links to M.O.D and Local Government sectors are important.

Responsible to the Commercial Director you will be responsible for fee income growth and customer diversification, work with the Management team and key others to agree the overall strategy and high level action plan for the sector whilst directing and managing operational business development activity and best practice across the sector.


The person appointed will be responsible for building a sustainable fee income stream of £12.0m pa from its present base of £10.0m pa; sustainability of sector performance ? pipeline strength and mix, achievement of BD through others and customer mix and maturity. This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a senior role within a well established, respected and successful business. The particular sector is significant to Entec and challenging so the role will require creative thinking and market development as well as a commitment to good quality routine client development, sales and deliver.

You should have excellent people skills, a strong track record in managing client relations and business development skills to take responsibility for the overall growth of Entec?s business in the Central Government and Agencies sector. You will not be burdened with the day-to day operational responsibility for staff, but will act as Entec?s leader/figurehead in the sector, across all service offerings. You will therefore have the opportunity to select, build and deploy a virtual team dedicated to the delivery of the strategy. You will work with the Product Group Directors and members of the Sector Development Team, guiding, influencing and partnering with them to penetrate potential growth in the sector in line with Entec?s overall strategy. Strong influencing and communication skill s are essential.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of business development in the UK in the public sector, will have built up effective relationships with relevant clients through account management and will have a clear understanding of the range of services which Entec promotes to the Central Government and Agencies customers.
