Entry Level Unix Engineer  (Infrastructure Management Associate Analyst)

Job Description:

This entry-level position is for an individual producer who can learn and apply an advanced, in-depth knowledge of technical concepts, practices and procedures in supporting UNIX and Linux operating systems. This person will act as a member of a customer-support team and will often work under demanding deadlines, at times operating independently to resolve complex end-user problems.

Education and Typical Years of Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 1 years of related technical support experience.
• Basic knowledge and experience on Linux/UNIX systems

Special Requirements:

• The ability to follow defined procedures in a regulated environment is required.
• Basic troubleshooting skills & a problem-solving mind are essential
• An ability to work to strict Service Level Agreements in a demanding environment is required
• Experience in the installation, configuration, and support of at least one of the following operating systems, in an enterprise environment:
• SUN Solaris (9,10),
• HP-UX (10.x, 11.x)
• Linux  - (Red Hat/Suse)
• AIX (5.x)
• Experience in the following areas are useful: SAN storage and multipathing solutions, Veritas Cluster Services/SUN Cluster Services, Veritas File Systems, Veritas Volume Manager, SUN Disk Suite, VMware Virtualisation, IBM Blade technology, IBM AIX LPARs.
• Vendor certification from Sun Microsystems, HP (HP-UX), IBM or Red Hat an advantage.
• Experience of working within an ISO20000 compliant environment with emphasis on Change, Incident and Problem management is an advantage.
