Description:
Based in London you will be working from our main office in the Ealing. Our network is based on 100+ servers running a variety of network operating systems including Windows 2000/2003/2008, Linux Fedora, Linux Redhat, CentOS, SuSe and SUN Solaris. Your role will cover the following technical aspects of our network and services:


Business services (as part of the global our business offer):

- Shared Web Hosting
- Mail servers
- Dedicated Servers
- Grid Servers


Broad system administration:

- Management of our network edge hardware, firewall and switches, ensuring their continued uptime, redundancy and consistency. You will take responsibility for the configuration of internal and external networks and contribute to the maintenance and implementation of the access policies.
- Your responsibility would include management and troubleshooting, systems upgrade, capacity planning and monitoring of our network servers.

Data Centre Management

- You will provide the expertise in the data centre rack management, physical network layer, equipment positioning and optimal thermal efficiency and capacity of our data centre racks.
- You will manage and update the hardware inventory of our network equipment.

Technical Support (External)

- Technical support role is e-mail and voice based. You will resolve the technical queries and troubleshoot the problems related but not limited to network connectivity, business shared web hosting and dedicated server customers. Also, you will participate in second and third level of technical support and customer service.

Technical Support (Internal)

- You will provide the vital input to our sales team about the technical aspects and possibilities related to future business prospects. This may include hardware specification provisioning, software platform and server capacity planning according to the client requirements.

You will be a strong team player, and have good verbal and written communications skills. As with any role of this nature there will be a requirement both for regular on call cover and occasional unscheduled out of hours work.

Our Data Centre is based in (E1) and unscheduled work will include the emergency visits when there is an network or servers outage. Apart from the emergency visits to the Data Centre, unscheduled work may include the criticial technical support queries when there is an major problem in the operation of our network services.

The role is challenging and will involve working on many different projects, maintaining existing systems and contributing to the development of new ones. The role requires the ability to project manage effectively, setting and meeting realistic deadlines for the completion of work. Hosting Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, Server Engineer Requirements:

? Previous experience in a similar focused role
? Experience of planning and implementing security policies across networks
? Excellent management of Unix/Linux OS, Windows OS
? Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP and network management
? Cisco experience and/or CCNA qualification is advantage
? Fully conversant with routing and the management of networks
? Knowledge of MySQL,Perl,PHP and shell scripting
? Perform out of hours support as required and commitment to weekend/overnight hours
? Excellent customer service ethics
? Knowledge of the following operating systems (Windows 2000/2003/2008,RedHat/CentOS, Suse Linux)
? Familiarity with server hardware (CPU, HDD, Motherboard, IDE/SATA/SCSI/SAS Raid).
? Ability to diagnostic the hardware fault and possibly replace the failed hardware parts in our Data Centre
? Provide solutions for sales team ranging from complex web hosting to multiple server/collocation projects
? Work with sales team on proposals and tenders
? Ability to apply and understand technologies such as Windows, Linux, Load Balancing and Networking
? Develop further knowledge of current/new systems
? Valid driving licence
