Primary objective of the job:
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated leader with the ability to plan, build upon and execute technical operations across the business. The position will play a major role in the management team taking full responsibility for the development and implementation of a roadmap of technical activity for the business on an ongoing basis in co-operation with the management team. The role involves micro and macro responsibility for all technical and cost lines across the business.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: (maximum of 8 duties)
- Develop, start up, lead the implementation and optimization of the GSM mobile network across the region.
- In conjunction with the local CTO?s devise the strategy for the Technology department of Digicel ensuring alignment with Company goals and values.
- Work with business stakeholders to agree a Business Case development framework, which ensures goal congruence and joint ownership of initiatives within the Technology department.
- Oversee the design and operation of the network to ensure optimal quality of service including capacity planning for the various nodes within the Digicel network.
- Work closely with the Regional CFO and take full responsibility for the Technical Capex & Opex Budgets for rollout and operations
- Develop and implement a strategy for Vendor & Partner Management taking full responsibility for ongoing relationships with equipment suppliers, defining contract agreements, SLA?s and on ongoing network activities to ensure optimal performance of the networks across the pacific region.
- Liaise with providers to ensure that all Customer Service Requests raised are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner according to contractual agreement
- Provide leadership, support and guidance to the technical management team to ensure that the team can deliver on their stated objectives through ongoing assessment, coaching and development. Strong mentor and coach is desired
Academic qualifications and experience required for job:
- Degree/ diploma in telecommunication/Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
Functional Skills:
- At least of 10 years experience in the Telecoms industry with a minimum of 5 years experience in a senior management role
- Proven track record in the area of Radio, Transmission, BSC & MSC elements & Ericsson and or Huawei GSM networks
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills including:
- Capacity to work under sustained pressure
- Ability to set goals, develop plans and objectives and deliver results
- Demonstrated capacity to build productive working relationships
- Well developed analytical and conceptual skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and well developed interpersonal and representational skills.
- A proven ability to make independent judgments, exercise discretion and make balanced assessments.
- A high level of knowledge regarding the application of technical resources for the collection of information.
- Ability to develop and motivate others to achieve.
