John Connors No. 33 John Connors, CFO, Microsoft

Last year's position: Not placed

Talk about setting an agenda - how about telling the world's largest software maker it needs to cut $1bn in costs? That's just what John Connors has done at Microsoft, and our panel agrees the move is shaking up the company - and will continue to do so over the coming year.

One panellist said: "They're having to reform so that they don't have so many product groups... it's affecting their marketing, it's going to affect advertising and it'll affect how they deal with the channel."

According to another panellist, Connors was also pointed to as an Agenda Setter by those within the company, who said - in an environment with giants such as Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer - he's got the power to make things happen.
