No. 38 Van Honeycutt, chairman, president and CEO, CSC

Last year's position: Not placed
It's been a tough year for many of the big IT services and outsourcing companies but CSC has bucked the trend with a phenomenal year under the guiding hand of chairman and CEO Van Honeycutt. With some big deal wins, CSC has broken the stranglehold of the major players like EDS and IBM.
It is this that has propelled Virginia-born Honeycutt onto the Agenda Setters list for the first time. He started out at CSC in 1975 as a lowly regional marketing manager, working his way up through the ranks before taking over as CEO in 1995.
The company has seen organic revenue growth in the region of 10 per cent over the last year and Honeycutt is predicting around the same for this fiscal year.
The big change has been CSC's emergence as a real contender for the outsourcing 'megadeals' and major contract wins with organisations such as the Royal Mail, National Grid Transco and the NHS. The company is also still in the frame for the big Ministry of Defence contract, which will be awarded later this year.
