A powerful behind-the-scenes deal maker and Redmond's ambassador to Silicon Valley, Lewin debuts on the list this year as the man credited by many (including one panellist) for bringing about the settlement of longstanding legal disputes between Microsoft and Sun.
Lewin's no platform bigot, either - he spent time at both Apple and Steve Jobs' ill-fated NeXt, among other places, before taking up with Bill, Steve and co.
A rising star, he's the one of three Microsoft-ers to make the list beside chairman Bill Gates at number 7 and CFO John Connors at number 33. Yup, that means he beat the CEO.
