Graham Young joined architect Foster + Partners in June 2007 and has 40 years experience in the field of design engineering, working in a variety of roles across various industry sectors.

Prior to Foster + Partners, Young worked for the Atkins Group over 20 years in a number of senior roles including head of IS for Atkins Rail, infrastructure operations manager and corporate systems director before being promoted to group systems director across the Atkins Group in 2006.

Young started out on civil and structural design engineering projects on river and sea works; commercial and industrial construction; petrochemical engineering; oil and gas engineering and offshore engineering before joining Atkins Oil and Gas Engineering as CAD systems manager in 1986. In that role he was responsible for moving the design process from the drawing board and complex mainframe-based programmes to PC-based CAD and engineering design.
