Derbyshire County Council has inked a £5.6m deal with Capgemini.
Under the deal, the outsourcer will be responsible for refreshing Derbyshire's tech, replacing its mainframe-based IT systems with SAP.
The refreshed systems - including business intelligence, financials, HR, procurement and payroll - are set to go live in 2010, with Capgemini providing support for the following 12 months.
Capgemini and Derbyshire are also looking into the rollout of a new electronic document and records management system to help speed up data access at the council.
