The Entropia Universe can be downloaded and played for free but first-time players are given only a bright orange jumpsuit, a pair of shoes and some underwear.

Participants can build up cash by collecting 'dung' or 'fruit' and selling them on to other players.

Those with enough PEDs can then start taking part in more of the virtual universe's functionality and buy their avatars more exciting outfits.
