Euro gets boost from Chamber of Commerce

NEWS British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) president, John Entwhistle, has said the UK must join the EMU as soon as possible. The statement was welcomed by the Business and Accounting Software Developers Association (BASDA), which said it will help IT Directors establish clear euro conversion strategies within their companies.
Entwhistle's comments, made at the BCC's national conference, are in direct opposition to the Institute of Director's support of the "Businesses for Sterling" campaign.
Dennis Keeling, chairman of BASDA, said: "I'm very embarrassed by the IOD's stance, which could make life very difficult for businesses". Keeling added that attempts to establish euro conversion strategies are being confused by the debate. "Most of the 600 UK companies attending recent BASDA roadshows are being drawn into the euro because of close links with European Trade partners," he said.
