In brief: US government brings end to Microsoft case

NEWS The US Department of Justice did not file a motion to reinstate the antitrust case against Microsoft before its deadline on Tuesday. The move effectively means an end to the lengthy court battle between Bill Gates and the US government, analysts claim. Microsoft is now free to bundle Windows with Internet Explorer without the threat of further legal action.
