Scottish council seeks ICL's help

By Tony Hallett, 9 July 1998 16:31

NEWS ICL has secured a £40m contract to become a strategic IT partner for Scotland's Highland Council. The contract will run for ten years and comes under the UK government's Private Finance Initiative. The Highland Council said it looked for outside help because of the problems associated with serving a remote population of over 200,000 people in an area of 10,000 square miles. The council also claimed the deal will allow it to save time and money when implementing new systems. Fifty-five staff currently employed by the council's information systems services will be transferred to ICL.
