NEWS The Bank of Bermuda is setting up a software development and support centre in Stirling, Scotland. In a deal worth £4.7m, the centre will employ about 100 people and offer two £10,000 scholarships. A spokesman for Scottish Enterprise, a regional development agency, said: "We had 17 electrical and IT projects last year - these are high quality jobs and show the calibre of the Scottish workforce." The bank credited Scotland's highly trained workforce and good standard of living for the decision. In a statement, it claimed that grants or loans did not effect its decision. The centre will provide application development, and technical and telecoms support for the international bank. It will work with existing centres in Hong Kong and Bermuda. Recruitment begins this week and the bank aims to have the centre up and running by September.
