In brief: Gates to be spared public deposition

NEWS Microsoft has successfully appealed against an earlier ruling by a US District court judge that would have forced its executives to give evidence in front of the press. Microsoft had argued that their testimonies would include trade secrets which should not be discussed in front of the media. Microsoft's trial against the US Department of Justice still looks set to begin in September.
