Intergraph to supply Suffolk police system

By Julian Goldsmith, 30 September 1998 16:18

NEWS Suffolk Police Authority has awarded Intergraph Public Safety (UK) a £1.3m contract to supply a command and control system. The system, called Polaris, will be used for incident and resource management by collecting caller data from all 999 calls. The control centre PBX is integrated with a digital map which locates the caller's address from their number and pinpoints it on a map on the operator's screen. The system can be used to track when officers arrive at the scene of an incident, and a vehicle location application is due to be added to the system in the near future. The system also provides links to the Police National Computer and integrates with the national firearms register so officers can be warned when they approach an address where firearms are registered.
