Austrian bank opts for Unisys euro solution

NEWS One of the largest banks in Austria has unveiled plans to migrate its systems to Windows NT and make them euro-compliant using Unisys computing services. PSK uses 30 direct branches and Austria's post office branch network to handle around 40 per cent of Austria's payment systems. Computer systems company Unisys supplied the original CTOS-based solution and has been reselected to implement the migration. The bank wanted a system that supports open standards in desktops and is capable of handling the new European currency. PSK said Unisys managed to quickly evaluate and devise a way to convert their systems for euro-compliance as soon as euro guidelines were released by the EC at the end of 1997. Unisys will now work on the system, which is scheduled to go live by January 1999.
