NEWS Autopsy training has gone online for students at Leicester University. A former student has created a Web site which uses images of former live training operations to teach countless more students using less resources. These virtual post-mortems are being held as ground breaking in the field of computer assisted learning. Dr Kevin West, senior lecturer in pathology at Leicester University, said the training has dwindled as resources have become more scarce, but believes this project could bring the level back up. Decency is respected on the site, as images are abstracted from real-life operations. The site currently covers basic training but the department plans to extend its use for advanced students.
