US political polls go online

By Polly Raymond, 15 October 1998 09:26

NEWS American pollster Harris Black International will launch the world's first official online poll next month in time for key elections happening in 16 US states. The company says it is fully confident that using the Web to gauge the political climate is just as reliable as conventional methods. The polls will be taken to predict key outcomes just before the election on 3 November. The online forms will be sent out by email and Harris says they've been designed to account for the demographics of Internet audiences which don't necessarily mirror the sample population that normally contributes to political polls.
