NEWS Today sees the start of Silicon.com's first editorial campaign - 'IT on Board'. For Europe to remain competitive in a changing economy, technology must be placed at the centre of every business agenda. The best way to achieve this is by getting IT directors on the board, according to campaign manager, Graham Hayday. He said: "We will be publishing a series of interviews in the channels and related editorial which will address these issues. We will also be running a series of events over the coming months which will explore the role of the IT director, and specifically, how to get more IT personnel on the boards of European companies." Hayday believes the reasons for the lack of IT people at board level are two-fold. Firstly, some IT staff are reluctant to get to grips with the business environment in which they work. Secondly, the business managers themselves often have a limited understanding of technology - and are reluctant to learn. If the gap between business and technology is to be bridged, both IT and business must move towards each other. The first interview in the 'IT on Board' campaign is with Chris Setz, President of Network Professionals Association. That interview can be found in Silicon.com's Enterprise channel. Tony Piper, IT Director at Pinnacle Insurance also discusses the issues in the Enterprise Channel from Monday 26 October.
