NEWS Media company Emap has joined forces with online insurance broker Screentrade to sell insurance through its travel Web sites. Emap's two travel sites - www.1ski.com and www.bargainholidays.com - will link to www.screentrade.co.uk, a site operated by Misys Interactive Insurance Trading and Shaw Insurance Brokers where users can buy policies online. Screentrade searches through 13 separate insurance companies to find the best match for the individual requirements specified in an online application form. The top five matching policies are sent back to the user within 15 minutes. A spokeswoman for Misys explained the benefits of online insurance: "Telephone quotes usually leave the customer frantically scribbling information down and then wondering whether the policy included a particular feature. With an online service the prices and features of a policy are laid out on one screen making it easier for the customer to make a decision." Screentrade offers a range of travel, motor and contents insurance packages. Norwich Union, Royal & Sun Alliance, Eagle Star and Bishopsgate are amongst the contributing companies.
