Ecommerce chief calls for Net crime taskforce

NEWS The managing director of e centre UK, Alan Boxer has called for the creation of a taskforce to help law enforcement agencies control crime on the Net. Boxer made the call in front of an all-party Parliamentary committee on IT. He was responding to the UK government's request for ideas on encryption policy; last month, ministers decided to rule out a controversial key escrow policy, but gave industry just three weeks to come up with an alternative. Boxer said the taskforce would harness the technical expertise of business, which could then be drawn on by law enforcement agencies monitoring the Internet for crime.
