EDS picks up $466m Italian energy deal

NEWS EDS has signed a $466m outsourcing deal with Italy's largest energy company, ENI. The services giant will provide a range of high-tech systems to streamline ENI's business processes and reduce costs. In a statement EDS said it plans to provide a data centre, client server operations, desk-side support, engineering procurement and disaster recovery for the energy company. The services firm also announced a five-year contract worth $350m with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as part of the government's program to outsource all its IT needs. As part of the deal EDS will provide services including an integrated voice and data network, data warehousing, mainframe services and a helpdesk.
