NEWS Database company, Oracle, has donated £10m towards the development of Web access and technology education in UK schools. The money will be distributed across 10,000 school pupils through the Oracle Millennium Project which will provide free email addresses and, more importantly, Web access facilities. At the launch in Glasgow, UK managing director, Philip Crawford, spoke for CEO Larry Ellison when he said the UK is leading the world in recognising the importance of technology in schools. Prime Minister Tony Blair was also present at the launch this morning and welcomed the investment, which he said is an example of the drives necessary to realise his vision of the National Grid for Learning.
