IT Counsel offers outsourcing advice

By Tony Hallett, 6 May 1999 17:43

NEWS IT Counsel has unveiled a network outsourcing service aimed at organisations that have outsourced, but are unable to bring operations back in-house. The Manchester-based company, acquired last month by road and rail construction outfit, Amey, has brought its services under the brand names blueprint and smartsource. blueprint handles the planning and design of IT infrastructure, while smartsource is an implementation and management service. Richard Torr, IT Counsel's technical director, said: "We and our customers felt there weren't enough options - they either outsource or they don't. We're being more creative and flexible." He said customers will often turn to IT Counsel, which judges the current outsourcing arrangement - often while facing resistance from the incumbent outsourcer - and then provides specialist project and management services. Many of IT Counsel's customers are central government departments.
