NEWS Charles Schwab Europe has become the first online brokerage in the UK to offer a dollar dealing service. The move means consumers are now able to trade New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq-Amex quoted shares via the Internet and telephone, at the same rate as US users. Prices start at $29.95 per trade for Internet trading, $39.00 per trade over the phone. According to Fletcher Research, Charles Schwab's service is the UK's most popular ecommerce site. Charles Schwab Europe CEO, Bob Duste, recently told Silicon.com that the company is committed to offering multiple channels of access to its services, with the Web central to its plans. Charles Schwab's US online channel was launched four years ago, and now accounts for about 65 per cent of the firm's domestic business. In the UK, online operations began exactly a year ago, and account for about 25 to 30 per cent of business.
